Upcoming Events

Elise's Bach Party: Are you guys going to get her any gifts or joke stuff for her to wear? Let's all meet somewhere before the dinner so we can go together.

Mike's Wedding: Have you guys decided which flights you're getting or are you still looking? The best deal I found was Airtran flying out Thursday and back on Sunday... but the Thursday flight is in the afternoon so I'd have to take a half day vaca. Ideally, I'd like to fly out Thursday night after work, but if the flights are a lot more then I may choose to leave earlier. Let me know what you guys have found! Also, are we still planning to all stay together?

Us!

Sleepover: I just posted about the next few weekends regarding the sleepover... which isn't looking too promising for me, but hopefully we can make something work.

Dinner: Would you guys want to meet for dinner up here next Tuesday, August 9th? Ali: you could come meet us since you won't be in school yet and we could go somewhere fun in Beachwood. Let me know what you guys think.

Labor Day: What are you guys doing over Labor Day weekend? We were on the houseboat last year. We should have a cookout and play corn hole and stuff. I feel like we haven't done that all summer and it's already August!

Tonsillectomy: I'm supposed to be scheduling this, but I'm sooooo nervous. :( I really don't want to keep having problems, but I was in so much pain two weeks ago and hear horror stories about this! I'm trying to work around work meetings and events, so I think I'm going to schedule it for Tuesday, September 27th because I have a little break in meetings then my first day back to work would be Monday, October 10th for our McDonald's board meeting. Help! I'm sooo scared. :'(

sleepover

I think we should plan a girls night/sleep over.  We could watch chick flicks/ satc/friends, eat candy, play makeup and just hang out.  Other than Elise's wedding, my schedule is pretty free.  We can do it here if you want. What do you guys think?

I'm Alive!

Hello friends. Sorry for my delayed blogging. These past two weeks have been crazy!! I'm happy to say that I'm slowing feeling better each day though. I have been leaving work early everyday this week... by about 3:00, I'm exhausted. I was in bed from 3-8pm last night! I'm so ready to be back to my old self again... it sucks to be sick during summer. Anyway, I'm reeeeally hoping to come canoeing for Drew's bday tomorrow. I won't be able to drink and definitely won't be staying all night, but at least I can see you guys for awhile! :)

We need to plan a girls day. We can do our favorite things... eat and shop. If you guys want to come to Fairlawn, the mall has some new stores! We now have a Sephora, Franchescas (my absolute favorite store right now!) and Aveda. Or I'm always up for a trip to Crocker Park.

Well, I better get back to work since I'll be leaving soon! Can't wait to see you both tomorrow.

P.S. I got out of my work event for Elise's bachelorette party so I'm definitely able to come.

News

So... I've started my own solo blog.  I really have no idea why, but I did.  It's called "A Place for Everything" and that's exactly what it is.  So far posts have been about home projects, recipes and ME!  The only person I've told about it is my mom (well and Aaron of course).  But now I'm telling you guys.  Eventually I'd like to get out into the blogging community more.  Basically I need something ongoing that is my own to distract me from my job.  I like it because it gives me a reason to start different projects around the house and keeps me on the ball.

So check it out when you get some time, and let me know what you think.  Feel free to leave comments.

A Place for Everything

Don't worry, I'll still post here for all the fun stuff :)

New Purchases

Westwood Studio had an open house last night with lots of product sales.  I got two of my huge pump-bottles of shampoo and conditioner for $25 total, which is awesome because they are $30 a piece when they aren't on sale.  I got a replacement of moisturizer, which I was almost out of.  But the fun things I got were nail polish and lipstick.

OPI Mermaids Tears
I put this on last night.  It is like an antiquey turquoise color.  I think it would be cute with a white top, grey cardigan, jeans, and turquoise earrings.  I also think it's a great summer toenail color.

Youngblood Rosewater

This is the lipstick Nina used on me for the wedding.  I like it because it actually has color.  I love my blankety, but it's also fun to wear a bit of color on my lips!

So that's my latest purchase.  I miss you guys!  NEED GIRL TIME ASAP!

The Hunt for the Perfect Curling Iron.

I am on the hunt for a new curling Iron.

I really dont know much about them, but I am a huge fan of curling my hair. I have one that is metal right now, but I have heard really good things about the ceramic ones. Also I have heard that using your straightener works really well as well. I feel as thought I am not handy enough to use my hair straightener.

I am going to make a trip to Ulta to check out some new ones, I will keep you posted on what I find out.

Also I am looking for a new really good Shampoo and Conditioner, Any Suggestions?

Dinner with Hodi

We had Heidi-Ho over for dinner last night so we could try out some of our new loot from the wedding.  The menu included:

*chips/pretzels with three types of dip (french onion, roasted garlic hummus, and pimento chip dip).
*flying saucers (sloppy joes with cheese made in the triangle sandwich maker)
 * frozen peach champagne cocktail
* Nutter Butter Frozen Peanut Butter pie

It was delicious and so I'm going to share some of the recipes with you.

First the pimento chip dip.  It doesn't sound very good, but I love it and so did everyone else.  It is one of the recipes I got from my aunt at my first bridal shower.

Ingredients:
8 oz. Cream Cheese
1 jar Pimento Cheese
1 Tbsp. Minced onion
1 Tbsp. Chopped Olives
1 Tsp. Olive Juice

Mix together and enjoy!

Next up we have the Nutter Butter Frozen Peanut Butter Pie.  It was delicious and cool on such a hot day!

Ingredients:

Crust

  • 24 Nutter Butter sandwich cookies
  • tablespoons butter, melted

Filling

  • 1 To make crust*, crush the cookies in a zipper style plastic bag with a rolling pin, or in a food processor.

  • I used my new food processor and LOVED IT!

  • 2 Mix cookie crumbs with butter.

  • 3 Press into bottom and sides of a 9 inch pie plate.

  • 4 Mix cream cheese, peanut butter, sugar and vanilla with electric mixer on medium speed until well blended.

  • 5 Gently stir in 1 1/2 cups whipped topping.

  • 6 Spoon into crust.

  • 7 Freeze 4 hours or overnight until firm.

  • 8 Let stand 1/2 hour or until pie can be cut.

  • 9 Garnish with remaining whipped topping and additional cookies if desired.

  • 10 Special extra: Just before serving, drizzle chocolate flavored syrup on plates.

  • 11 *Ifdesired, omit Nutter Butter cookie crust and use an oreo crust instead.

  • Yumm!

I have no pictures of the cocktail, but it was tasty enough that I'll share the recipe anyways.  We decided to make this because we wanted to use our Magic Bullet.  However, after we made our first cocktail (a test run before the guests even arrived) the Magic Bullet wouldn't work anymore.  We were so disappointed!  I don't know if we're going to return it or what.  So we had to finish the cocktails in the blender (boring).  At least they still tasted good.

    Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup sugar, to rim glasses

  • pint peach sorbet

  • 2 (1 1/2 fluid ounce) shots triple sec, Grand Marnier or Cointreau liqueur

  • 750 ml chilledchampagne, 1/3 bottle or 750 ml sparkling wine, to fill blender 1/3 bottle

  • Blend and drink up!

    MAC Obsessed

Well ladies, I think its officially safe to say that I have quite the MAC addiction. So on my hunt to complete my MAC collection, I thought I would share some of my latest and greatest additions.

Latest Addition would be the MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Medium Deep

Next is paradisco eyeshadow, I have been searching and searching for the perfect coral color and here it is.

I also picked up Sunny Spot because I want to try to do something with this color.

Also found this really pretty lustre nude color, really really pretty. This is called Big Tea.

It was a little difficult trying to get the pictures to work but all in all I think its pretty good. These are just some of my new favs, of course you know there are more to come. If you get a chance to check some of these out I highly recommend that you do.

    Enjoy!

    I'm Baaaack!!

It's been a while, and I miss you guys!  Now that the heavy part of wedding season is over, I'm really excited about all of the non-wedding fun we can have :)  Sounds like canoeing/camping for Drew's bday.  Always a good time.  Here's hoping I don't fall all over the place this year *fingers crossed!  I also think it would be really fun sometime when we all have a long weekend to go visit Miss Kristi.  It would be such a great girl's trip!  We also need some shopping/makeup play time.  Basically it sounds like we need to get away from the boys.  I'm sure they miss having their guy time as well.

Hope you guys can check this and maybe post something if you have time.  Annie I'm sooo sorry you feel so terrible and I hope you get better ASAP.

Bad Foods You Think Are Good

I read an article in Cosmo: 13 Healthy Foods That Can Make You Fat. It was interesting because I felt these were good food choices, but they really aren't... here are the most interesting ones:

Sushi Rolls: The veggies and seaweed wrap are low-cal, but the other ingredients aren't great and the seafood inside may be battered. These can be 500-600 calories per roll!

Dried Fruit (one of my favs): This has 5-8 times more calories than fresh fruit. Fresh grapes have 60 calories compared to raisons which have 460... Of course I knew that fresh is better, but I didn't realize that dried had that many more calories.

Wraps: No matter what you put in it, the average rap can be 1' across and pack up to 300 calories. The surface area is way bigger than two slices of bread, so more condiments are also used with these. Dang, I thought this was a good choice.

Rice Cakes: These are fat-free and low in calories, but they lack in fiber and protein so downing 2 or 3 won't do anything but add calories to your daily total and leave you wanting something with substance.

You can read the entire article with all 13 foods in Cosmo, but hopefully you found these interesting. =)

    Car Update

A quick update on my car... great news! The guy ended up having insurance, so his insurance company is paying for everything. This is such a relief since I was prepping myself to pay a $500 deductable in the next few weeks or just pay for the whole thing so I didn't have a claim on my insurance. I have an appointment on Wednesday and my bumper will be as good as new after that!

I also test drove a 2008 Volvo S40 last week. It was really cute and is smaller than my car, but didn't have a sunroof or heated seats and the salesman annoyed me, so I didn't want to get it. It was silver and now I keep thinking about it. Sigh.... Here are pictures of it - what do you think?

    Adele

This week I downloaded the Adele album "21."  I saw her on Chelsea Lately and I've heard a lot of people talking about her.  I like the album.  She has an AMAZING voice and some strong "kick-ass woman attitude."  The songs are kind of slower paced so you have to be in that kind of mood.  I think this would be a great album if you were going through a breakup (which hopefully none of us will).   It is definitely worth listening too, but you may want to listen to it first to make sure it fits your music style.

I want to download some more music.  What are you guys loving right now?

    Cook Yourself Thin

I know I've told you guys about this cookbook that Aaron and I are working through, but I wanted to do a formal post about it because I really like it.  So far, we have made 32 recipes from this book.  The majority of the recipes are very easy to make.  It doesn't really require any crazy ingredients, but we've had to buy a lot of different things because we've never done much asian cooking and there are a couple asian recipes in the book.  As far as the nutrition values, the recipes range from around 3-10 weightwatchers points.  The portion sizes are generally pretty small and I usually have enough points left to eat a double portion and still stay within my daily points allowance.

    Some of our favorite recipes:
    * Penne alla "Not-ka"
    * Chicken tenders
    * Spinach and Mushroom Lasagna
    * Mini Turkey Meatloaves
    * Turkey Chili Crunch
    * Shrimp Tacos

    Slim Down Solution

I downloaded Jillian Michael's free Slim Down Solution app on my new phone.  I really like it because it gives a weight loss tip every day plus you can read Jillian's exercises, recipes, and other weight loss information.  Today I tried one of her circuit training workouts.  There are 5 different circuits with 3-5 exercises in each circuit, ending with a cardio exercise.  I did the workout at home using only my body and 5 lb dumbells.  Two of the cardio exercises called for the treadmill, so I ran laps around the basement instead (this really confused Franckie).  The workout kicked my butt!  It probably took about 30-40 minutes total and I was dripping sweat and exhausted by the time I finished.

I would recommend this free app if you guys can get it on your phones.  It is free so I think the health info and workouts are worth it.  I think there is an extended version you can pay for, I may eventually get it but right now I'm satisfied with the free version.

    It's Tea-bag time!!!

I'm 27 and I'm old because t-shirt time (Pauly D's phrase for getting ready to go to the club, around midnight) has become t-bag time (time for my evening tea before bed, around eight o'clock).  I love it though because it's warm, delicious and I can drink it while catching up on my DVR.

This week I bought two new teas.  First, I got Celestial Seasonings Wellness Tea.  It is an echinacea complete care herbal supplement tea.  It claims to promote the body's natural defenses, contains vitamin C and zinc, all the while providing you with a soothing eucalyptus flavor.  This week was a great test for this tea.  I spent a great deal of time face to face with one of my students who was coming down with a cold.  I drank my tea all week and by Friday I was feeling slightly under the weather.  However, my aide and "sick boy" were feeling downright terrible.  So did the tea make the difference or was it simply because I eat a well balanced diet and always get ample sleep at night?  I don't know the answer but the important fact for me is that the tea tastes delicious and therefore I will continue to drink it.

The other tea I bought is from a new brand I saw at Wal-Mart.  The brand is called Yogi and I got the detox tea which is supposed to promote healthy liver and kidney function.  The flavor is great, has spice of the "chai variety" which I always enjoy.   I like the Yogi tea because it uses organic ingredients and has a nice little quote on the label of each tea bag.  It is more expensive than other brands though, which is a downfall.

All in all they are both teas I would recommend and buy again, except I always like to try new things so it'll probably be a while before I get around to buying these again.

Also,  I know I've talked about "cleanse diets" with both of you.  I asked my friend Gretchen, who is a nutritionist her professional opinion on the subject.  She basically said that our bodies have their own cleansing organs (liver and kidneys) that do this job for us so we shouldn't have to do anything out of the ordinary to cleanse our bodies.  She says the best thing to do is hydrate, hydrate, hydrate and make sure you're eating plenty of fruits, veggies and whole grains.  I'm kind of glad, because that sounds much easier than any of the cleanse diets I researched.

    Until next time...

    Better Late Than Never

Ok time for this week's survey!

    1. How is your week going so far?
    2. What is the best meal you've had this week?
    3. What is the last thing you bought?
    4. What does your current workout routine consist of, or if you aren't currently working out what is your favorite workout?
    5. What are your plans for the weekend?

    Car. Hit.

Well, some guy just hit my car. I backed out of my parking spot and was going to put my car in drive, then some other guy backed out of his spot and hit the back of my car. He snapped my bumper or something because the side is kind of off now. He said... "oh looks like we were backing out at the same time"... I'm like umm no, I was already out. There was a lady who saw the whole thing who actually works for McD and was coming to a meeting at our office, so she stuck up for me. I got his info and hers and filed a claim.... but it's on private property so it's between the insurance companies and hopefully he says what really happened! This sucks.

    Naked

Also....since I have all this time on my hands. I have been trying out my share of the Naked Smoothies. Trying new ones and taking suggestions. My comfort zone is always a classic Strawberry Banana. So along of a Strawberry Banana I also purchased a Protein Zone Double berry. My thoughts on this are eh. I was not expecting it to be so thick. And kind of chewy. Not my fav and probably will not buy this again.

    Whats Cookin!

So I thought that since I have some free time on my hands I have been cooking new things lately. Thought I would start sharing with you some of the things I have been making. I wish I would have done this last week because I made some really good meals. But any who. For lunch today I made Portobella Burgers. They were really good. This is Drews Im not that big of a fan of that many condiments.

I just looked up a recipe on food.com and improvised with that I had. They were delish!

    Happy Birthday Justin Bieber!

What an amazing day!  Apparently today is Justin Bieber's birthday.  I know this because the kids at school  let me know.  We celebrated by turning up his music and having a dance party.  I got some really cute videos of my kids dancing.  I would love to post the video, but I'm pretty sure that's a privacy issue.

Then the day went drastically downhill.  We had an unexpected fire drill and one of my kids tried to run down the street.  I literally had to sprint after him in front of the whole school.  How embarrassing!  I caught him and he proceeded to try to beat on me the rest of the day.  My job is such a good workout!  I think it would qualify as kickboxing if I were allowed to fight back.  As it is, I just do a whole lot of self defense and restraints, which actually require a lot of strength.

Speaking of workouts, Stacy and I went to a new class at the YMCA last night.  It is called 20-20-20.  It involves 20 minutes of cardio (we did step aerobics), 20 minutes of strength training (lunges and lifting), and 20 minutes of yoga/pilates.  It was a really good workout, slightly harder than step and burn so I know I'll see great results if I keep it up.  Apparently the instructor is one of Beth's parents.  And also she's 3 months pregnant.  I hope I'm in that good of shape when I'm prego!

Also, I got an iPhone last night and I absolutely adore it.  Its so incredibly easy to use.  There was hardly any adjustment period at all.  Texting is even easier than I thought it would be.  I hate to say it, but it's sooo much better than my blackberry.

    Bad Mood

Don't you hate it when you wake up in a horrible mood? That's me right now! I am so mad... I don't want to be at work at all and just want to go home. I seriously am furious about nothing! HELP!

    Snacks

You know that I love snacks... but usually all things bad for me... candy, cupcakes, chips. Even though these all taste oh so good, I am still always hungry. Plus I need quick things that I can eat at work and in the car. Not sure if you guys are getting and reading the FabFitFun emails that I forwarded to you, but there was a really good one on healthy snacks this week and I went out and bought the food they recommended. Here are my thoughts...

Almonds: Everyone knows these are good for you so no need to elaborate.

Lara Bars: These are awesome! I found them in the organic section of the grocery stores. They seriously consist of only a few incredients - all good and nothing artificial (for example, the "blueberry muffin" bar has: blueberries, cashews, dates, lemon, vanilla). I'd highly recommend these.

Greek Yogurt: Have you guys every had this? It's weird! Also found in the organic section. Sorta tastes like a mix of plain yogurt and sour cream... it isn't good... but, I did buy a few minis that come with fruit and it's good only if mixed in fruit. Apparently, it's pretty good for you, so I might keep trying.

Hummus with Pretzels: Good snack. My favorite hummus is roasted red pepper and pretzels are better for you than crackers or chips.

I think those were the items they recommended that I tried. I've also been really into smoothies lately. My favorite concoction is a banana, chocolate almond milk, peanut butter and plain yogurt - tastes great and fills you up!

Ok, the last thing on my mind right now is wheatgrass. Scott and I tried a wheatgrass shot for the first time today at Robeks. One ounce of this stuff is equal to 2.5 lbs of leafy green vegetables... needless to say, it's awesome for you. We tried it and it's not too bad... tastes like you're drinking grass, but I've taken shots of much worse, so I'd definitely recommend. Apparently, it's a great hangover cure, too.

    Flipped

Last night we went to Josh and Rachel's.  First of all, Vinny grew a lot in the two weeks since I've seen him last.  He is just way too cute.  When we got there, he was sleeping on Josh's lap in camo overalls.  Then, he woke up and played for a while.  He's crawling all over, speaking gibberish, and loving trying to walk with someone holding his hands.  That boy makes my biological clock tick unreasonably loud.

Then, after baby V went to bed, we watched a movie called Flipped.  I had never heard of it but I could tell by the previews that it was relatively recent.  It takes place in the 50's/60's and it's about this boy and girl neighbors growing up together.  At first it kind of bothered me because the whole movie goes from the boy telling a story, then the girl telling the same thing from her point of view.  Eventually I got really into the story and it was actually really cute.  You guys should check it out if you get a chance.  It is available on Netflix, but not instant stream.

Also, Due Date came out on DVD this week.  We are going to buy it.

    My day so far...

I checked out the Kim Kardashian makeup tutorials on Youtube.  I wasn't all that impressed.  It was cool to see what she uses, but I feel like Ally had already told us the important stuff.  Also they didn't teach me anything that Ally hasn't already taught me.  If you watch them, know that there are 4 separate videos, about 4-5 minutes each.

I have seen several places that the MAC Jeanius collection is coming out March 3 (this week).  It has a denim theme and looks kind of cool.  Lots of blues, grays, and blacks I think.  I read this blog Makeup and Beauty Blog and she has had several posts about the new MAC line if you want to check it out.  I like this blog for three reasons:
    1. She updates often (like 3 times a day!)
    2. It is mostly product reviews with some tutorials and informative posts mixed in
    3. She often shares pictures and writes about her cat, who looks A LOT like Franckie.

Has anyone checked out the Lady Gaga tutorials?  I haven't been able to find them...

    Brothers and Sisters

If either of you have time, or netflix. You should check out the series brothers and sisters. I watched a couple of episodes yesterday and its really good. Makes me wish I had a big family lol. Just a suggestion.

    Bodyguard

I wanted to give you guys a heads up that I'll be a bodyguard for a Leprechaun on Monday. McDonald's is partnering with radio stations for a Leprechaun contest. On Monday, there will be Leprechauns (or "little people") in random McDonald's restaurants in Cleveland... if you find the Leprechaun, you can take your picture with him, upload it to their website and have a chance to win awesome prizes (one is Lady Gaga tickets). Anyway, I'm assigned to one of the restaurants to be a bodyguard for the Leprechaun... some of my job duties will include... giving him something to drink every half hour (preferably Shamrock Shakes), making sure no one picks him up (I'm not allowed either - already asked), making sure the Leprechaun isn't talking about McDonald's and basically just protecting the little guy! It's a pretty important job, but somebodys gotta do it!

    SNOW DAY!!

I'm on cloud 9 today, this may be partially due to the fact that I've just had two coffees with peppermint mocha kahlua in them.  Franckie is also happy, although she has had no "special coffee" as she prefers hers  with a milk to coffee ratio of 99:1.  So what shall we do on this glorious day?  Generally on snow days I try to get some cleaning done, but since we had a three day weekend topped off with a snow day Tuesday, the apartment isn't looking too bad.  Instead, I think I will be completely lazy and spend my day blogging and watching Bones on Netflix Instant (just want Boothe and Bones to hook up already!)  I feel like I deserve this since I spent an hour yesterday on a cold bus getting beat on by a 6 year old who refused to bowl with his class and instead wanted me to let him run around the putt-putt course all afternoon.  Even so, I'd take the physical pain over the emotional stress brought on by the adults at work any day...

Get ready for lots of random posts today girls and have a great day :)

    Snow

I wish I could get a snow day up here! Ali - this mean you better be blogging today because I know you're at home! My drive to work took 1.5 hours and was scary. I have to drive to Canton around 1:00 and am hoping it gets better by then. I'm not sure what the point of this post really is, but wanted to let you guys know this. Also, I can't see outside my window at work and it just looks white. Have I mentioned how ready I am for summer?! Well... I AM!

    The Days of our Lives

Dramatic makeup looks are way too fun, but none of us have the time (or the glamorous lives) to wear them day-to-day.  So my question to you, my ladies, what does your day-to-day makeup look entail?  Mine changes from time to time, but what is your go-to work and/or errands look?

    Here's mine:

(Don't you love seeing my face even when you can't be near me?)

Generally primer and foundation all-over.  Followed by an eyeshadow that matches my skin tone pretty closely (youngblood alabaster) topped with a shimmery color that is a couple shades darker than my skin tone (youngblood gold coast).  I use a pencil brush to line my eyes (top and bottom) with a dark brown shadow (youngblood cocoa).  I finish the eyes up with a coat or two of mascara.  I top it all off with a pinky blush (youngblood sherbert) and a neutral or clear gloss or chapstick.

    MAC Wonder Woman Review

So I know its been a little while since we got our stuff I haven't really gone anywhere to try out my new stuff yet. However, last weekend Drew and I went out to dinner and I tested out my new Wonder Woman Eyeshadow.

Im not gonna lie, I wasnt all that impressed with the lighter shades. BUT, I think it was because I used the Urban Decay primer potion as my primer. I SHOULD have used my MAC paint pot. They lighter colors would have probably shown up better. Also I am having issues with my MAC brushes. Im wondering if I ruined them when I cleaned them. I use the MAC brush cleaner but I'm worried that they are getting dried out. Anyone have that stuff? It's a pink liquid that I got when i bought a couple of brushes.

Also I really do like the lip stick and lip gloss that I have. I probably should not have got it though because it is really similar to blankety lipstick that I already have. But oh well another one to add to the collection.

Other than that I really like what I got.

P.S. if anyone is interested in seeing a makeup tutorial of Kim Kardashian her Makeup artist and her posted one on youtube and its mostly all MAC products. She does use Angel lipstick in it too Annie. With the NARS Turkish Delight lipgloss over top. If either of you tried your new stuff let me know what you think. As always im looking to add to my collection.

    Hump-Day

So I thought it might be fun to do a little survey each week.  We can each answer the questions either in the comments section or a new post.

    1. How is your week going so far?
    2. What are you excited for in the next month?
    3. What product do you have your eye on?
    4. What's the best show you've watched in the last week?
    5. What are your plans for the upcoming weekend?

There ya go!  Have fun :)

    There's Hope.

So... my appointment was okay last night. It still hurt, but I'm convinced that it's getting better. I even thought that during the appointment and that's never happened before -- usually I hate every minute during and then think that it wasn't too bad after. I also was able to keep a conversation going with Carolyn practically the whole time, so another good sign! Ali - let me know how it goes at the Wooster place... I'm anxious to hear whether it's better/worse. Ally - make an appointment at CS soon so we can get on the same schedule and go together next time!

    Sexy New Look

So I just tried this new makeup look that I saw on Makeup Geek.  I watched the video and thought it was GORGEOUS!  I obviously do not have all of the exact products and when I went to try the look myself, I couldn't get the video to load again.  So I now present to you the look I created from memory using the products I have on hand.  You can check out Marlena's look here: Marlena's Version

    Products Used:

    Face:
    Youngblood Mineral Primer
    Youngblood Mineral Foundation- Sun Kissed

    Cheeks:
    Youngblood Pressed Mineral Blush- Blossom

    Eyes:
    MAC Paint Pot- Bare Study
    NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil- Oyster
    stila Eye Shadow- Bronze
    MAC Eye Shadow- Fig
MAC Wonder Woman Eye Shadow- Defiance
MAC Wonder Woman Eye Shadow- Real Drama
    Prestige Eye Shadow- Golden Retriever
    MAC Eye Pencil- Ebony
MAC Superslick Liquid Eye Liner- Smokey Heir
    Maybelline Falsies Mascarra- Very Black

    Lips-
    MAC Amplified Lipstick- Blankety
NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss- Beige

I really LOVE this look.  It's super dramatic and I used scotch tape for the first time to get the harsh line. I think I could tone it down a bit for less dramatic events (i.e. anything in Wooster) by not using tape and softening the lines a bit.  What do you girls think?

    *Disclaimer*
1.) I am not a professional photographer or model, especially when photographing myself :)
2.) Not sure if there are any copyright issues here, but the great idea is all from www.makeupgeek.com

    Enjoy

    Tuesday!

So, just wanted to share a few things with you girls.

First things first, I dont know if either of you watch the Bachelor but, I really like Emily and I hope he picks her.

Wanted to give you a few reviews on my recent Yankee Candle Purchases. So far..
Orange Dreamcicle - Ehh not my fav, its ok. But a strong smell.
Soft Blanket - Probably my fave so far.
Pink Sand - Really like and chose for our bedroom.

Strongly recommend Soft Blanket if you guys are on the hunt for new candles.

Also made a few purchases at Bath and Body Works, Carried away smells so good, and also Annie i purchased the Apricot Vanilla Lotion. Me Likey!

That's it so far. P.S. my grammar sucks.

Also I am loving Irish Breakfast Tea at the present time!

    New House!....maybe

In the season of sharing... I thought I'd share the website for the house Aa and I are looking at.  Right now, we are waiting on the estimate from Matt for all the renovations.  We obviously need all new carpet and we'd like to redo the kitchen so that the refrigerator can go in the kitchen as opposed to the living room.  I know, that's asking a lot.  So as I've told you both, I think, the neighborhood is wonderful.   The house, while old, has a lot of potential and character.  Amazing back yard, landscaping potential, and deck.  I picture many fun get togethers in this house!  Let me know what you think :)

    Calendar

Glad you guys found it!  Feel free to change anything you want.  You should be able to change the layout/design/settings.  I'm not attached to anything so make it whatever you want it to be.

I've tried to add a calendar.  If you go down to pages there is a calendar page.  It will provide you with a link for the google calendar I created.  I sent each of you an email to invite you to be part of the google calendar (I think).  My understanding is that you can sign in to the google calendar and make changes as you need.  If you click the link on the blog, it will just let you see the calendar, not update it.  Not sure if there is a way to directly update it from the blog...  If anyone can figure that out, go for it!

    Yay! I'm so excited :)

    Scared.

I get to see Carolyn tonight at 6:45. I'm terrified. I really think that drinking wine before is a good idea.

    Welcome!

    Hey girls!

Here is our new blog.  I'm still navigating the site and trying to figure everything out, but at least we're up!  Feel free to publish any posts you'd like.  Annie had the great idea of adding a calendar so we can all see important dates (especially with all the wedding stuff) that are coming up.  I plan to figure that out using google docs.

For now, I like the idea of sharing our lives on the blog.  Cool sites we find online, new products we've found, great deals we stumble across and stories we need to share with everyone.  I think it should be easier than texting/calling everyone.  We'll see how it goes and add more from there.

I'm so excited to see/hear/read what you guys have to share.

Have a great, snowy day :)
